Sony defends the absence of new announcements in E3 2018

They consider that it is a consequence of announcing the games at an early stage of development.

Even with names as prominent as The Last of Us: Part II, Death Stranding, Spider-Man, Days Gone or Ghost of Tsushima, there were many criticisms that followed the Sony conference for E3 2018 . The reason? There do not seem to be enough announcements of his own studies, although according to Simon Rutter, president of the European division of Sony, this is only a consequence of announcing games very soon .

“Part [of the reason why games are announced so soon] has to do with the fear of leaks, not being able to present the game in the way the creator wants to do it,” explains Rutter. “But the desire [to have new announcements] clashes with the realities of production: the time it takes you to launch the game.”

Apart from the games presented, the manager also had occasion to talk about the impressions generated by the conference itself. “I think the reception was mixed, there was also some appreciation for what we tried to do with the construction of the event, the rhythm and the logistics, and over the last three years, we tried to inject some drama and theater into the ads, to do it something more than a presentation, we seek to evoke the spirit of the games. “
