How many virtual reality headsets could Sony sell in a little less than two years?
Sony announced the current standing of the PlayStation VR on the PlayStation Blog. The company revealed that they sold three million PSVR-s, which, frankly, isn’t a jaw-dropping figure. Don’t forget that the PlayStation 4 is over 82 million units by this point. NPD’s analyst, Mat Piscatella, wrote on Twitter that only four percent of PlayStation 4-owners have a PlayStation VR, and thus, he thinks that „immersive VR (on PC and consoles) will remain niche.”
We also learned that 21.9 million PlayStation VR software were sold, so on average, one PSVR has a little over than seven games. Let’s see the most played PlayStation VR games’ chart:
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
- PlayStation VR Worlds
- Rec Room
- Resident Evil 7: biohazard
- The Playroom VR
- Job Simulator
- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
- Batman: Arkham VR
- Farpoint
- Superhot VR
There are a few respectable titles on the list, though, that we could appreciate. Sony also announced release dates for two upcoming PlayStation VR games well during the celebration. Survios’ Creed: Rise to Glory, a VR boxing title, will arrive on September 25, while Archiact’s sci-fi FPS Evasion will follow on October 9, respectively.
Congratulations but we should expect better results than what we see…

Immersive VR (the PC and Console stuff) is niche, highly likely to stay niche. Can be a nice little business, but that’s about it imo.
