At least that’s what we can assume based on Obsidian’s recent activity.
Obsidian has made a lot of great RPG games in the past and they are responsible for Alpha Protocol as well, which released in 2010. Douglas Bogart from Limited Run Games recently asked on Twitter whether players would want to see a remaster of Alpha Protocol on the current-gen consoles.
Surprisingly, the development studio behind the game retweeted the question and this instantly led to speculations amongst gamers. There’s a chance that Obsidian wants to tease this way that something is in the works – more specifically, the mentioned remaster.
By the way, if that’s true, the question is what is their reasoning behind doing it. Maybe they want to bring back the Alpha Protocol name to the common knowledge in the world of gaming before they eventually make a sequel? If so, making a remaster might not be the best choice, it’s just rather a missed opportunity.
It’s because most critic and gamers agree that while Alpha Protocol‘s story was good, its gameplay had problems, while the game wasn’t very good from a technical standpoint either even when it was released. But with a proper remake, the problems of the game could be ironed out and this could potentially lead to a bigger audience.
