MOVIE NEWS – The Predator is going to hit theatres this week and now the director of the movie talked about what’s the situation with Schwarzenegger.
The Predator was directed by Shane Black, who also had a part in writing the script of the ’87 original, while he also acted in it. Aside from this, he wrote the script of Lethal Weapon. However, for a while now, he started to direct as well and he made movies such as Ironman 3, Kiss, Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys.
Schwarzenegger was originally meant to be in The Predator, or at least in its third act where he would have been the one who saved the day. However, Schwarzenegger didn’t want to appear only for a glorified cameo and he is doing the new Terminator movie now.
Here’s what the director had to say:
“The studio wanted a fresher movie that featured an evolving cast. They didn’t want to hinge the movie on the re-emergence of Schwarzenegger. It would probably be more of a matter of his showing up briefly and just participating at the very end, at the climax of the movie. Understandably, and believe me, I completely get it, he said, ‘Look, that’s kind of a small part, and I don’t really think I want to do that. I’m off to do Terminator with Jim Cameron, basically. Or for Jim Cameron’.”
By the way, based on multiple reviews by critics, The Predator so far seems to be disappointing – the movie has undergone multiple reshoots before its release.
