Unfortunately, the day-1 patch has removed the reference to the past…
Kotaku reports that Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics initially had a different ending for the final part of the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy. It would have included a reference to the original, 1996 Tomb Raider, developed by Core Design.
A user named Tombstone asked on the Tomb Raider forums if the others have also received a letter from Natla or not. (Jacqueline Natla was the main antagonist in the original Tomb Raider games.) It could be a reference to the next Tomb Raider game. The problem is that nobody else has received the Natla letter that Tombstone did. He then replayed the game, and then, the publisher, Square Enix, has stepped in.
They confirmed that they were planning multiple endings that got canned, and this one was left in the game until its day-1 patch deleted it. Daft Raider recorded the cancelled ending that you should watch only at your risk.
So, the developers deleted multiple endings (which is sad), and it’s disappointing that they get rid of the past like this…
