What Were The Most Popular Games On The PlayStation Network In September?

We’re taking a look at both the European and the North American lists.

Let’s start with the European lists. The PlayStation 4 charts did not bring up as Spider-Man in the first place. Three new titles took the podium, and FIFA 19 managed to take the top spot (despite launching in late September, no less!) in front of Marvel’s character and NBA 2K19. (Shadow of the Tomb Raider got to the fifth place.) Let’s see the list – the (New) and the (Re) descriptions need no explanation, and the ones with the number in the brackets show the last month’s position:

  1.         FIFA 19 (New)
  2.         Marvel’s Spider-Man (New)
  3.         NBA 2K19 (New)
  4.         Battlefield 1 (11)
  5.         Shadow of the Tomb Raider (New)
  6.         Grand Theft Auto V (1)
  7.         Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 (8)
  8.         Minecraft (10)
  9.         Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (3)
  10. Rocket League (9)
  11. FIFA 18 (RE)
  12. Gran Turismo Sport (13)
  13. Gang Beasts (2)
  14. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (New)
  15. NHL 19 (New)
  16. The Crew 2 (Re-entry)
  17. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands (19)
  18. Persona 5 (RE)
  19. Detroit: Become Human (RE)
  20. Life is Strange 2 (New)

The PlayStation VR charts have only ten titles, and moreover, only one of them is a new entry:

  1.         Firewall Zero Hour (3)
  2.         Job Simulator (5)
  3.         Creed: Rise to Glory (New)
  4.         The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR (RE)
  5.         RollerCoaster Legends (RE)
  6.         Superhot VR (4)
  7.         Doom VFR (6)
  8.         Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality (2)
  9.         Catch & Release (RE)
  10. RollerCoaster Legends II: Thor’s Hammer (RE)

The DLC list has Fortnite on the top, beating out Destiny 2 as well. (Not much commentary needed, although we have to say that Epic Games’ battle royale title beat out even Spider-Man in the process…)

  1.         Fortnite Battle Royale – The Ace Pack (1)
  2.         Destiny 2 – Forsaken (New)
  3.         Destiny 2 – Expansion Pass (6)
  4.         Fortnite – Standard Founder’s Pack (3)
  5.         Marvel’s Spider-Man – The City that Never Sleeps (New)
  6.         Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege – Year 3 Pass (RE)
  7.         Dead by Daylight – Shattered Bloodline (New)
  8.         Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 – Extra Pack 3 (7)
  9.         Call of Duty: WWII – Shadow War (8)
  10. Destiny 2 – Warmind (RE)

We’re not going to copy-paste the charts from across the pond, as they have six (PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, Free-to-play, PS Vita, PS Classics, and PlayStation 4 themes…), but we’ll bring up the key changes in the PS4/PSVR ones. In North America, Spider-Man did claim first place in front of NBA 2K19 and FIFA 19. Destiny 2: Forsaken – Legendary Collection reached fifth, while NHL 19 got to sixth place respectively, and, as a somewhat disappointing result, Shadow of the Tomb Raider only reached 9th position.

On the PlayStation VR charts, only the second position was changed. Firewall: Zero Hour and Creed: Rise to Glory both kept their first/third position respectively, but Superhot VR took the second spot here. There’s no DLC chart. You can take a look at the rest here.

We’re still surprised that Europe brought FIFA 19 to the top in just a few days. Are we that much into football?
