After the somewhat weak The 3rd Birthday on PSP, it would be surprising if Parasite Eve, which started with two titles on the PS1 in an action-RPG/shooter genre, but there’s a chance that it could happen!
Square Enix has filed a trademark for Parasite Eve in Europe. It means the company is planning something with the franchise. However, we don’t know if it would be a remake (hopefully not – Final Fantasy VII’s remake was announced 3.5 years ago with no release date on the horizon yet…), or a brand new instalment. The latter feels hard to believe, but at the moment, we cannot rule its possibility out.
The first game, launched in 1998, was a bit slower (and more difficult, especially the final levels of the Chrysler Building, which opens up after the first playthrough!) than the sequel in 2000, which was more action-focused. The 3rd Birthday In 2010 was effectively the black sheep of the trio on the PSP (it didn’t even bear the Parasite Eve name!).
Is it going to be announced at The Game Awards? After Alien: Blackout, we wouldn’t be surprised…
