Going by the new rumours, we can point towards this thought.
VentureBeat reports based on „sources familiar with the studio” that at The Game Awards, BioWare will announce the next Dragon Age game which has no title yet. The dev team would require at least three years of development, meaning the game would launch in 2021 at the earliest, as it has been in a questionable situation for a year due to Electronic Arts; the publisher forced BioWare to concentrate on Anthem first.
The publisher also seemingly threw out BioWare‘s pre-production work, as they wanted to focus on live services (Battlefield V, Anthem) instead, which is the reason why Marc Laidlaw, the writer of Dragon Age, ended up leaving BioWare. The new project would be spearheaded by Mark Darrah, BioWare‘s executive producer, and Casey Hudson, the general manager. Going back to this 2021-at-the-earliest launch, it means the next Dragon Age game would likely not be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Game Awards will start on December 6, 5:30 PM Pacific/8:30 PM Eastern.
