The original creators of Fallout work on a new game, and they are going against what the franchise is doing nowadays – it almost feels like revenge from Obsidian‘s end for Bethesda not giving them another chance after Fallout: New Vegas.
Private Division (Take-Two) will publish The Outer Worlds, who are headed by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, who had a significant role in 1997’s Fallout’s creation. The Game Awards had the announcement for their new game, and it can be mentioned as a „non-Fallout,” as it is (also) set in the outer space.
The German GameStar interviewed Tim Cain, who said two sentences that can be looked at as an uppercut to Bethesda altogether: „There are no microtransactions in the game. You buy it once and then enjoy it forever.” Previously, their forums also confirmed it, and Kathryn Megan Starks, the senior narrative director of Obsidian, also told RPG Site that their 2019 PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game still doesn’t even consider having microtransactions.
We’d take a brief detour to Fallout 76 here – this YouTube video discusses how the game’s files now contain lunchboxes, also known as loot boxes. Bethesda thus lied once again, as WCCFTech wrote that „the microtransactions are cosmetic only,” which, going by the video, seems not to be the case.
