Daniel Ahmad, an analyst at Niko Partners, believes that despite the Japanese company having unannounced PlayStation 4 games, they are already concentrating on the next console generation.
He posted his analysis on ResetEra, and in it, he said that Sony already locked in the PlayStation 4 releases for the first half of 2019, but the second half of the year is „in flux.” He added that Sony has first-party PS4 titles from established franchises in development, but aside from them, they are already focusing on the PlayStation 5.
Ahmad confirmed that the „PlayStation 5 developer kits (devkits) are already out there” with the third-party developers, and he „heard great things about them.” However, he added that we shouldn’t expect to hear more about them for a while, which was also confirmed by DigitalFoundry‘s video: they say the PS5 devkits exist, but the console’s specs and information are still a long way off.
Jason Schreier, a writer at Kotaku, added that any emails, posts or information about an alleged PlayStation Meeting are false, so don’t expect any event to happen on February 20. It’s a hoax.
So we should wait at least half a year until the PlayStation 5 is even getting announced… if not more.
