The PlayStation Vita, which had (past tense!) more success than in the West, is going to see the end of its production shortly…
The PCH-2000 ZA11 (black) and the PCH-2000 ZA23 (aqua blue) PlayStation Vita‘s Japanese product pages both say that their „shipments are scheduled to end soon.” It means the last two Mohicans will not be made in Japan in a few months.
In September, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced (and we wrote about) how the production of the PlayStation Vita will end in 2019. Well, they weren’t joking about that. When will the „game over” happen, though? As the PlayStation 3 got the same shipment ending soon message in March 2017, followed by the stopping of manufacturing in May, we can somewhat predict when the Vita will reach the end of the line.
If we look at the PS3’s example, then the PlayStation Vita might not be made from mid-April or early May. Too bad the Western audience has ignored the capabilities of this handheld…
