TECH NEWS – One of Google‘s rivals in the browser market decided to back the company instead of competing.
There is some competition between Microsoft and Google. After all, the Redmond-based company has its own search engine (Bing), but still, it seems that after its browser called Edge switched to the Chromium engine, Microsoft decided to work together with Google, providing a few functions along the way.
Microsoft released an extension for Google Chrome called Web Activities. It brings over Windows 10’s Timeline function over to the browser. It syncs browsing and app history between our operating systems and devices, so for example, if you were watching something on iOS, you can continue on PC. You can find the extension here. After downloading, all you have to do is install it, then log into your Microsoft account.
The other addition is in Chrome’s Canary 74.0.3710.0 build. It includes support for Windows 10’s Mixed Reality. „If enabled, Chrome will use Windows Mixed Reality devices for VR (supported only on Windows 10 or later),” the description says. (Hold on… Windows 10 or later? Is there a newer platform than Windows 10?) This function can only be used by Windows Insiders who have a Windows 10 18329 build or newer. To enable Mixed Reality support, type this address into your Chrome: chrome://flags/#windows-mixed-reality – however, we have to warn you, this build is in beta, so there might be bugs. You can download it here. The third addition is from Windows 10’s April update: it brings over the „Show text suggestions as I type” feature to Chrome.
Microsoft thus started pushing Google‘s car. More and more browsers use the Chromium browsing engine…
