Sony didn’t bring a lot of new functionality to the console this time… but there’s one that might be useful for some players.
The next „major” system software update weighs roughly 464 megabytes for the PlayStation 4. The 6.50’s biggest improvement is the expansion of the Remote Play. Now, you can use the function on iOS devices, and all you have to do is to download the app for it from the App Store. It means you don’t have to stick with an Android device when it comes to quickly pausing the game to continue the adventure on the toilet, which could happen to anyone… however, you’ll need a 12.1 or newer iOS, an iPhone 7, a 6th gen iPad or 2nd gen iPad Pro, as well as the usual things (a PlayStation 4 with the newest firmware – 6.50 at the moment -, a PlayStation Network account, and a Wi-Fi connection).
There are two more improvements, but these are limited to certain countries and regions, but we will mention them anyway: NicoNico Live, which is the Japanese equivalent of YouTube, can now be streamed to on 720p resolution, and you can also „change the button assignment to perform „Enter operations.” It can be changed under the Settings > System tab.
The Remote Play boost is the best idea – as the PlayStation Vita is now officially dead, we now have to use other devices to utilise Remote Play…
