This situation is what we’d call a combination sale.
On Reddit, there’s an interview with Devil May Cry 5‘s director, Hideaki Itsuno. It’s taken from a German magazine called M! Games. Let’s see what Itsuno has said: „We started the development of Devil May Cry 5 when we didn’t have the Nintendo Switch development kit. Because of that, we concentrated on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions, but if Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen sells well on the Switch, then we might consider porting DMC5.”
It’s a combination sale! Buy one, and then you’ll get the other one (although you’ll have to pay for that as well). It’s a very clever idea of making an unrelated game to sell better than expected. Of course, this isn’t an official confirmation.
Devil May Cry 5 might run on the Nintendo Switch without much dumbing down, as the RE Engine seems to be excellent. It was recently used in the Resident Evil 2 Remake, too.
