One of the DLC characters is already revealed – NetherRealm‘s game is slowly filling up the gaps in the roster.
Noob Saibot – read it backwards! Tobias Boon – two family names. (Ed Boon and John Tobias are the two creators of Mortal Kombat. Ed Boon is still with NetherRealm, neck-deep into fighting games!) He’s the first announced character – he was the first Sub-Zero, previously known as Bi-Han. Scorpion killed him, and then he got revived as Noob Saibot. We could first see him in Mortal Kombat II with his phantom/ninja skills, and he got quite harsh since then. The trailer says it all, really…
The other character is going to be part of the season pass known as the Kombat Pack. The first character of it is going to be Shang Tsung, who was Shao Kahn’s right hand, hosting the first Mortal Kombat tournament. The character was able to take the shape of other people, and NetherRealm played a nice trick here: they hired Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, whose likeness and voice will be in Mortal Kombat 11. He was the actor of the character in the Mortal Kombat film! What a great idea. (You can see him in action in the final video between 27:02 and 28:11.)
Mortal Kombat 11‘s closed beta will run between March 27 and 31 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (and you have to pre-order to participate, but you’ll get Shao Kahn as an extra character). The game itself will launch on April 23 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
