After Evolution Studios closing its doors, it was expected that Sony will eventually leave the PlayStation 4-exclusive DriveClub and its versions behind…
Sony announced that DriveClub, DriveClub VR (PlayStation VR!), and DriveClub Bikes will no longer be available for purchase after August 31, meaning you can only acquire them physically. However, that won’t make much sense either, as the games’ servers will be shut down on March 31, 2020 (April 1, 1 AM CEST, but that’s not a lot of difference, and the timezone means it will still be March 31 in America…), meaning the three games will no longer work online – offline will continue to be usable, though.
„You will not be able to use your season pass online, represent your Club online in multiplayer events or tours, play online multiplayer and compete in challenges, create your own events, and compete in leader boards, or share stats and player progress. You will be able to use your season pass on all single player and offline modes, continue to play all games (Driveclub, Driveclub VR, and Driveclub Bikes) and DLC single player functionality in offline mode, and earn trophies in single player / offline mode,” Sony says.
As the DriveClub games are mostly focused on online gaming, their values will reduce significantly in a year. What a shame. Also, StarBlood Arena will go completely off on July 25: as it’s an online game, its servers’ shutdown means it will no longer work…
