Tomb Raider Is Going To Continue!

Not only the games, but the films will continue to expand, so don’t worry about Lara Croft disappearing.

Jonathan Dahan, a producer at Eidos Montreal, who worked on Shadow of the Tomb Raider (with some help from Crystal Dynamics – the game is getting its final DLC shortly), told USGamer the following about the possibilities of a new Tomb Raider game: „I’d be extremely surprised if we didn’t see more of it. We’re not able to say anything about what’s happening next, but I’d be very surprised if we didn’t hear more about the franchise.”

It’s up to Square Enix, as they own the Tomb Raider IP at the moment. Going by Dahan’s comment (especially the „we’re not able to say anything” line), there’s a high chance that Lara is already going into the next-gen, which is perfectly understandable.

The 2018 Tomb Raider film reboot, which featured Alicia Vikander as Lara, isn’t getting ignored either: Entertainment Weekly reports that MGM and Warner Bros. is already preparing for the sequel. MGM has tapped Amy Jump (the writer of High Rise in 2015, as well as the co-writer of Free Fire in 2016) to start Tomb Raider 2. Currently, we don’t know anything about its plot, but seeing how the first film took elements from the video game reboot trilogy (which ends with Shadow of the Tomb Raider), it’s possible that history will repeat itself.

So we’ll get a film and a game as well with time.
