Although officially, we don’t know much about the 2019 Call of Duty aside from Infinity Ward developing it (with the chance of possibly returning to the Modern Warfare series after eight years, meaning Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is planned for this autumn), there’s a chance that the developers (as well as the publisher, Activision Blizzard) might repeat their 2016 trick!
Back then, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was tied together with Infinite Warfare, and people had to buy the more expensive, 80 USD/EUR version of the game (and the updated version of the 2007 CoD title wasn’t released as a standalone title until 2017 – this is what people call a combination sale in business terms…). As Infinity Ward is the developer this year, we might see history repeating itself, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released ten years ago this year.
Robert Bowling, who was formerly an important person behind Call of Duty, has published a music video with over 1.5 minutes of length, which seems to hint at Modern Warfare 2 with its last ten seconds: „We are leaving [Washington] D.C.! I repeat, we are leaving D.C.!”, a radio message says. The text next to it is also suspicious: „I will let you down, I will make you hurt, October 8, 2019.”
October 8 is a Tuesday, and it’s likely that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered might launch that day, possibly together with Modern Warfare 4. If that is not the case, and Bowling is just celebrating the tenth anniversary, we’d not comment on that. (But why would the Italian Amazon list the game last year?)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came out on November 10, 2009, on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC… so something is happening. It’s about time we’ll hear official details.
