If you buy games too often on the Epic Games Store might result in your account being locked. It’s not a joke – we can’t even find anything to say to that.
So Epic Games Store has a big sale going on, but a few games either immediately backed out of it, or they didn’t even participate, such as Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, Oxygen Not Included, or even Borderlands 3. However, buying too much (or too often) could harm your account, as proven by Patrick Boivin, who wrote the following on Twitter: „So I can confirm that me buying a whopping 5 games (ranging from 5 bucks to 50) on the Epic Store flagged my account for possibly fraudulent. Maybe if you guys had a f_cking shopping cart, Jesus Christ.” Account locked for five games.
Epic Games has responded to the situation (it’d have made them look bad if they kept silent about it…) – Nick Chester, the company’s senior PR person, told GameRevolution the following: „This was a result of our aggressive fraud rules. If players run into this issue, they should contact player support so we can investigate.” This is what we call faceless, inhumane PR talk.
Epic Games Store has to do something – if they will add more games (and they WILL, as they will announce more exclusives at the PC Gaming Show, sponsored by them…), then perhaps it’s high time for them to finally implement that good old shopping cart to prevent such cases from happening again. The store has been open for almost half a year at this point! Sure, it’s understandable that they want to catch frauds, but this is not the right way to do so. (Their system is far too sensitive at the moment.)
