Sony has published the games that the people who subscribe to PlayStation Plus can access for free in July.
In advance, all we can say about the line-up (line-up? can you even name two games as line-up?) that you might not like it. The first game that we’ll get in return for subscribing to PlayStation Plus to play PlayStation 4 games online is Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2019. PES 2019. A football game, which won’t even have this name this year (as it’s going to be called eFootball PES 2020). Interesting. Meanwhile, we never see FIFA in the PlayStation Plus games. So, what is the other game, you ask? Let’s answer the question: Horizon Chase Turbo. A racing game that wants to resemble something from the nineties (including the visuals). 109 stages on 48 locations.
And that’s it. Sony still doesn’t want to expand the program, which, after it’s surprisingly strong June list (Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Sonic Mania – these are available until Tuesday, and Borderlands actually contains three games, not just one…), comes with a significantly weaker July duo of games. These are niche games. And there’s nothing more than them. Not even a PlayStation VR or a PlayLink game. Still absolutely nothing! What a disappointment it starts to be…
So the two July PlayStation Plus games will swap the June ones on Tuesday, and we have to ask this question at this point: how does Sony plan to keep its player base? Sure, the PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers increase, but there are people that stop subscribing because of the weak Plus titles. Sony will likely not put any effort in at the end of the console generation, which means we still have a very tough year ahead of us Plus games-wise…
