Two women put Jeremy Soule and Alec Holowka in the spotlight, accusing them of abusing them.
Nathalie Lawhead is one of many women who work in the video game industry, and one in particular who has suffered a suspected case of rape and has had the courage to tell it publicly. She has done it in a public message published yesterday in his personal blog, and that has transcended today before the seriousness of the accusations that he carries out, for example, by focusing on the composer Jeremy Soule, the author of the soundtrack of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion or Skyrim.
The creative, which has signed titles such as Tetrageddon or EIGTBOK has confessed that it was the subject of a violation by the composer in 2008. It seems that what she considered a friendship, in the Soule’s mind was something else quite different, and when he was rejected he began a supposed series of coercion and threats towards a Lawhead that, at that time, was very dependent on it. Among all those abuses that happened around 2008 there was a violation, according to Lawhead.
Inspired by her story, another female figure in the industry has been encouraged to come to light with another worryingly similar story. This is Zoë Quinn, a developer who has worked on games such as Heart Machine or Depression Quest. According to her, the co-creator of Night in the Woods, Alec Holowka, with whom he lived temporarily, coerced and threatened him, in addition to subjecting her to alleged sexual abuse and all kinds of harassment that he details in his personal Twitter account.
Quinn’s words have received the backing of the other creator of Night in the Woods. “We believe the story of Zoë, and we are very sad and very angry,” said Scott Benson in his Twitter account to know the facts. “All this has hit us in a very unexpected way, and tomorrow we will have more to say.”
We await further reactions to the harsh accusations of Lawhead and Quinn and, of course, the responsibilities that may be demanded from Soule and if the facts are proven to be true.
