Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2: CI Games Doesn’t Give Up

CI Games, former infamous PC budget developer under the name City Interactive, sticks by the sniper rifles.

The Sniper Ghost Warrior series is effectively the only serious thing out of CI Games since they dropped their PC budget approach, and we might add Lords of the Fallen as well, but its sequel still has a lot of question marks over it, especially after them kicking out the original developers, making the game being developed in-house.

Marek Tyminski, the president of CI Games, told a Polish website in an interview that Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is already in development, meaning they didn’t take much of a break after the launch of the first title. The game is being worked on by an experienced team, but, as a twist, its budget is smaller than its predecessor’s. (So are they sliding back to the budget line?)

Tyminski also says that Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2’s release date is not revealed yet, but it’s likely not going to be available this year. It’s being developed for „PC and consoles,” so they left the door open for a possible next-gen (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X) version, but if they say the budget is smaller, it could be a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One port. Contracts was far more realistic than the Ghost Warrior trilogy, and it also allowed the players to finish the missions the way they wanted.

Regarding Lords of the Fallen 2, Tyminski says that it’s being made for PC and next-gen consoles, with a modernised vision. CI Games is a small team since the 2018 layoffs, but now, they are recruiting people to make the development faster. (Bold in such times – but video conference interviews could work.)

CI Games is working on at least two games, and the first one is probably going to be Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, because if they look for new people for Lords of the Fallen 2 (where we have to mention the „modernised vision” again), that might need a year or two still.
