Resident Evil 8: Village: Will It Have PlayStation VR-Support?

Capcom might continue the traditions they started with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

VGC (who says that Capcom is making M-Two work on a Resident Evil 4 Remake) reports that Resident Evil 8, which is rumoured to have the subtitle Village, is going to follow many cues that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard started three years ago.

No, we don’t mean the game using the RE Engine (which makes sense: in the past three years, Capcom has used it for almost all of its bigger projects), and also not how the protagonist of RE7, namely Ethan Withers, will reprise his role. However, we do mean that the game will use the first-person perspective, meaning we’re going back „inside” after having a behind-the-shoulders camera angle for both Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake. Chris Redfield will also show up, the location will be a European village, and we’ll have a witch-like stalker that turns into a ton of bugs upon defeat.

The site also says that Resident Evil 8: Village will be a cross-gen title, meaning aside from the PC, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X quartet will be receiving the game, which is rumoured to arrive in 2021, possibly in the first quarter, as in the past three years, this period seemed to work well for Resident Evil. We can also add the PlayStation VR to the mix – as with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Capcom’s game will support Sony’s outdated but best-selling VR headset. (And if history repeats itself, then the PSVR is getting a one-year exclusivity before it moves to PC VR headsets, like the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, or the Valve Index.)

VGC has essentially confirmed via its sources what AestheticGamer has previously said (and then, we have likely discussed it ourselves as well). So Capcom would put out the 8th numbered Resident Evil title next year before M-Two’s Resident Evil 4 Remake follows in 2022.
