If we look at current trends, then we can easily suspect Activision Blizzard to bring the 2011 Call of Duty game over to give it a „remaster treatment.”
TheGamingRevolution is the person who believes that the 8.5-year-old Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is going to be remastered by Activision Blizzard. And since he is a reliable leaker regarding the franchise (he talked about both Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered before they got announced…), we should put that salt shaker away.
He thinks in the video below that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered 3 is going to use the same engine as the previous two remastered CoD games, and, again, we’ll first get just the campaign of the game. The same is seemingly the case with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered as well.
He says both 2 and 3 have been completed since 2018 and that Activision Blizzard wanted to publish these that year, but the Dallas shootings made the publisher put these projects on the shelves. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer has also been remastered, but the publisher didn’t want to split its player base (as they are now playing 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer), so they decided to split MW2 in half, and that is why just the campaign is available for now. As with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered would also be a timed PlayStation 4-exclusive, as Activision Blizzard wants to honour the exclusivity deal they signed with Sony in 2016.
TheGamingRevolution doesn’t know when the 2011’s CoD game’s remaster will be available, but he says Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has been a success for the publisher, which means they are now looking for the money bags, and thus, the release might not be that far off.
As always, we say that nothing is confirmed yet. But, seeing Activision Blizzard, they are likely to cash in on this trend…
