Fallen Order would be “the first chapter of a completely new franchise”.
At first glance, Fallen Order already seemed the first chapter of a saga called Star Wars Jedi, but now, Electronic Arts have confirmed it. Back in November, Respawn showed signs of wanting to continue the story of this game, and that was before they knew the great success it would mean in sales.
Besides, various industry sources have long claimed that EA works on more Star Wars video games, one of them being the sequel to Fallen Order. We now know that will happen, if it is not already in development. According to the GamesRadar website, EA CEO Andrew Wilson referred to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as the “first title in an entirely new franchise.”
This happened during the video conference that exposed the company’s financial results. Besides, the website also points out that at the end of 2019 new vacancies were opened to work on a Star Wars project by Respawn Entertainment, coincidence?
Wilson also mentioned in the same report that there is an HD video game in development, but it is not specified whether it would be a new title or some remastering. In any case, Electronic Arts already has everything ready for its conference, the EA Play Live 2020, included within the framework of the Summer Game Fest 2020.
