Skate News: New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater? Skate 3 On Mobile? Skater XL [VIDEO]

Multiple games under one umbrella.

Jason Dill, a professional skateboard, told his colleague Chris Roberts, the host of The Nine Club podcast the following: „Do you guys know that there’s a new Tony Hawk pro skateboarding game coming out in 2020? My song is in it. So I made sure to add my board to the boards you can pick, because I wanted to be in that sh_t, too, somehow. And that was a vain-ass move on my part, and I’ll admit it!”

This could be the game that was rumoured in March – back then, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered was rumoured as an Activision project. It’s weird, though: Activision Blizzard’s license has expired in 2015 after the release of the garbage Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Also, there has been a game listed called Tony Hawk’s Alcatraz – could this be the game Dill talked about? Possibly.

In the same podcast, Dill added the following: „I got a call from the EA people about 10 months ago, and they said, “Hey, we want to talk about the Skate game.” I said that’s fine. [They] said, basically, “We want to do a mobile version of Skate 3.” I wrote back, and I said, “What else?” She wrote back, “No, that’s it.” I wrote back, “Hey, no big deal, but nobody wants your stupid mobile version of Skate 3. Make Skate f–king 4 already, cuz just, like, do it. Just make the game and participate again. You can’t level it up to the same numbers you get on other games, you do it for a cultural thing that pays you back later.” Well, skating is still a cultural thing, although not as much as two decades ago, when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was in its best moments.

Finally, Easy Day Studios announced that its Skater XL will launch on July 7 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One (both consoles get a physical version), and Steam on July 7. Several brands will be included: 411VM, Almost, Blind, Bones, Crupie, DC Shoes, Dickies, Element, Emerica, Enjoi, éS, Etnies, Grimple Stix, Grizzly, Independent Truck Co., Lakai, Mob Grip, New Balance, Old Friends, Primitive, Ricta, SOVRN, Santa Cruz Skateboards, Sk8Mafia, Spitfire, The Nine Club, Thunder, Transworld Skateboarding, Vans, Venture.

At least this game is official, so there will be a skating game this summer.
