Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment have published a trailer for The Last of Us Part II to give us a bit of a taste of its story.
Naughty Dog’s game has a quite tumultuous 2020: first, it was planned to arrive in February, only to get it delayed back to May, followed by an indefinite delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, it got its final release date (while Marvel’s Iron Man VR, which got delayed at the same time, hasn’t yet…!?), which is essentially set in stone, as the game has gone gold: the master disc has been sent off to manufacture the physical copies so we can see it in stores on June 19 at the same time as it becomes available on the PlayStation Store.
There has also been a harsh leak of the game, too – we’re not going to go into details (the same goes for the trailer below – as Neil Druckmann, the creative director and co-writer said, it’s best to experience the game yourself… but we’ll describe it by one word: VIOLENT), but we’ll mention that Sony has caught the leakers, who were confirmed to not be employed by nor Sony Interactive Entertainment, neither Naughty Dog. Bloomberg News’ Jason Schreier has also speculated how the leak has happened: who would have guessed that a previous Naughty Dog game can act as a virtual door?
„Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions,” Sony Interactive’s synopsis says about the game.
The Last of Us Part II is out on June 19, exclusively on PlayStation 4, but we highly suspect a PlayStation 5 version as well.
