Shadow Man: Remastered: Mike LeRoi’s Return On Video And New Images [VIDEO]

21 years after the original release (Nintendo 64, PlayStation, PC, Dreamcast), Mike LeRoi is coming back.

Back in March, we already wrote about how Valiant, which is essentially the successor to Acclaim, has agreed to give Nightdive Studios the nod to remaster Shadow Man, using their Kex engine. Valiant, which is present mostly in comics at the moment, wants to make the jump to video games, and Shadow Man could be the gate.

Let’s quote ourselves from March: „„He is coming, stalking criminals in the spirit world and the real world. A possessed man is coming, a voodoo mask in his chest and lines of power in his back. Shadow Man is coming, trailing evil from Liveside to Deadside. To stop an apocalypse. To save your soul,” the game’s box said two decades ago. But what does this remaster bring to the table?

Let’s see what Nightdive promises: 4K widescreen display support, dynamic shadow mapping, dynamic per-pixel lighting, antialiasing, and other post-process effects, a higher density of particle effects, refined art, audio, and assets, refined gameplay experience, the reintroduction of missing content cut from the original game, controller support, and HDR support.” There’s also going to be improved AI, too.

Already in March, we suspected a 2021 release. Now, Nightdive is saying Shadow Man: Remastered could indeed arrive in early 2021. They plan to release the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, GOG). Since it’s one of the earlier 3D games (which also offered somewhat of an open-world approach no less), if they can modernise the experience while keeping the „beauty” of the original, they might have a decent remaster on their hands. We can now check out their work-in-progress on screenshots and a teaser, too.
