The game itself might not even be familiar, but with the new target platforms, it gets attention. That’s the surprising part.
Vblank Entertainment announced that after the May 2019-released PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Vita and Epic Games Store (PC) version, and the Nintendo 3DS port that followed in September, two more consoles receive the 16-bit open-world action game. Aside from the Steam version in August, two, nowadays somewhat forgotten platforms receive Shakedown: Hawaii.
On July 9, the Nintendo Wii, and in August, the Nintendo Wii U will receive the game! The Wii version won’t get a lot of printed copies (3000, price is 30 dollars), but it could become the last available game on the Nintendo Wii (unless Ubisoft decides to make Just Dance 2021 – which is like FIFA: it must come out all year – also available on the Wii, as they did with 2020). Keep in mind that the Wii’s Shop has been shut down, so a physical game is the only possible way to release new titles for the nearly fifteen-year-old platform.
„The Wii and Wii U versions include all of the currently released content and feature updates, including the Mogul Update, the Full Tank Update, and the many other little tweaks, improvements and optimizations that went into the game post-launch. Both versions will also allow you to experience the game in the most retro way possible… in 4:3 on your old CRT televisions… and in my opinion, it looks glorious!
The Wii version supports both 50 hertz and 60 hertz, and both NTSC and PAL output. It supports the Wii Remote (with shake!), Wii Classic Controller, Wii Classic Controller Pro, and GameCube Controller. I took special care to ensure it parallels the experience of the more powerful platforms and further optimized it to fit entirely into the Wii system memory. This means that you won’t experience any disc load times during gameplay. Once the game boots, you’re in!
The Wii U version supports both SD and HD, 4:3 and 16:9. You can play it with the Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote, Wii Classic Controller, or Wii Classic Controller Pro. It can be played entirely on the GamePad (with touch!), or the TV from the comfort of your couch,” Vblank Entertainment describes the two versions.
It’s heartwarming to see older consoles get new games. Now, have a look at the game’s PlayStation Vita version – talk about obscurity!
