Well, well, well… is a sequel being planned?
„We were always very focused on telling this one story of Jin’s transformation. It’s inherently a single-player experience. But who knows what the future holds?”, Nate Fox, the director of Ghost of Tsushima, told VentureBeat. By transformation, he meant Jin going Ghost from being a Samurai.
„The game is aimed at a very wide audience. We didn’t want to have the challenge be something that could keep people out of the narrative experience or the experience of just exploring Tsushima. We did want players to get a good challenge if that’s where they were at. We spent a lot of time building a sword-fighting system that was hard, but fair. If you make it fair, you can dial up the difficulty — the speed of attacks, the parry windows, the rate at which people come at you — and it still holds together,” Fox added.
The American NPD Group has also released its monthly sales report, showing that the market is still performing well thanks to the coronavirus global pandemic, as year-on-year, people spent 32% more (3.2 billion) on games, additional content, and hardware. As is the recent trend, the Nintendo Switch outsold the competition. Amongst the games, Ghost of Tsushima was the month’s best-seller (and it is also the fastest-selling game for Sucker Punch, but as we always say, it’s bound to happen as the gaming industry continues to grow). Paper Mario: The Origami King can also celebrate – the Switch-exclusive took the third position. Let’s see the month’s top 20 (we mention if it’s an exclusive):
- Ghost of Tsushima (PlayStation 4)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Paper Mario: The Origami King (Nintendo Switch)
- The Last of Us Part II (PlayStation 4)
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo Switch)
- Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo Switch)
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch)
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo Switch)
- Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris
- Minecraft
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Rainbow Six Siege
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (Nintendo Switch)
- MLB The Show 20 (PlayStation 4)
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- Need for Speed: Heat
- Marvel’s Spider-Man (PlayStation 4)
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
The Switch has a ton of exclusives, and we should count Breath of the Wild, too, although it is also available on the Wii U. Let’s see the top 10 for 2020 overall:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo Switch)
- The Last of Us Part II (PlayStation 4)
- Final Fantasy VII Remake (PlayStation 4)
- Ghost of Tsushima (PlayStation 4)
- Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
- MLB: The Show 20 (PlayStation 4)
- Resident Evil 3 Remake
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch)
- Mortal Kombat 11
Sony has more exclusives, although the new Animal Crossing outsold the PlayStation 4 titles. Still, Fox’ comment might seem to hint at a possible sequel on the PlayStation 5, possibly with PvP multiplayer…
