The story will feel more alive, but also closer to the content creators.
There is no doubt that Larian Studios is putting all the meat on the grill for the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3: we are talking, after all, of the combination of a much-loved series and a team highly respected for their work with Divinity: Original Sin and its sequel. Accompanying this promising role-playing title we also find technical ambitions to match. We have already seen in different broadcasts how the Belgian studio has modelled the graphics and the camera to shape a more immersive experience.
But in the latest development update shared via Youtube, Sven Vincke and his talents have covered aspects related to multiplayer and the freedoms that await each participant. It seems like this is all good news about it: the dialogue options at our disposal will move away from the generic responses we saw in recent company games, and instead trigger cinematic events directly in the game. A dynamic that you would normally expect from linear games, but that Larian has achieved through a combination of motion capture and pre-calculated animations. The idea is that this not only serves the player himself, but also brings new possibilities in the broadcasts: through a Twitch extension, viewers will be able to vote directly in the chat for the options that appear on the screen, and see the results in real-time. Ultimately, the player who shares his game has the freedom to heed or not to these votes, but of course, this opens the possibility of establishing new canons and even acting as ‘Dungeon Master’ for other fans who do not even have the game.
As we already knew, Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on PC through Steam and on Stadia on September 30. He will do it in early access and at full price, a shocking decision that its managers soften by recommending that players not be in any rush to jump into it. By the end of the month, we will have about 25 hours of content, which will be significantly expanded over time. It has also been revealed the ‘key art’ of the game that we will see perhaps in its cover and promotional images.
