Allegedly, a Silent Hill soft reboot is under development, and Konami and Sony might announce it this year.

Regarding Silent Hill, there have been several rumours throughout the year. Most of them were talking about a PlayStation 5-exclusive soft reboot, which is not developed by Konami. Instead, it is said to be made in-house at Sony, at Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio, with Konami only taking a cut of the profit, as they don’t even have to deal with the game’s marketing either.

These rumours have died down in the past few months, until now: Roberto Serrano, an analyst (who formerly was completely off regarding the price announcement date of the PlayStation 5), wrote on Twitter that the Silent Hill soft reboot is planned to be announced at Geoff Keighley’s show, The Game Awards, in December. The PlayStation 5-exclusive project got similar information from Rely On Horror as well, saying the same thing based on different sources. So Sony and Konami seem to be up to something.

And on ResetEra, Katharsis, a reliable forum user who previously had correct information regarding Resident Evil: Village (Resident Evil 8), added that there will be a Silent Hill-related announcement this year. While they did not specify The Game Awards, there aren’t many big events left for 2020, unless there will be another State of Play broadcast.

As more and more people talk about the existence of Silent Hill, it’s perhaps time to believe some of it, and Sony could benefit from Konami’s IP, especially if it’s aimed at veteran players (because the last time Silent Hill was on the top of the world, it was during the PS2 era, even if the series began on the PS1). Nothing is official yet, but Sony could make good use of Harry Mason.
