A gaming industry veteran is already teasing that the box breaking marsupial is heading towards a new project.
This autumn, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One received CRash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time (and we suspect that the Nintendo Switch and PC ports won’t come until Fall 2021, and by then, a PlayStation 5, an Xbox Series X, and an Xbox Series S version is plausible…), and Crash also showed up as a guest skater in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1&2 (probably not with a 900°, but maybe he did, who knows…?). Activision Blizzard is thinking ahead – something is highly likely to be in the works.
Do you know Charles Zembillas’ work? We’re not blaming you if you don’t, even though his work is right in front of us most of the time, as he has been an animator for both the Crash and the Spyro series. He now posted on his blog with a surprising title on November 7 („Crash Bandicoot – Something new on the way”). Let’s see what he wrote.
„Hello, Friends! Thought I’d share some recent developments with the Crash Bandicoot franchise. Got this from an excellent source. Been aware of the general progress for a while now. I’m told a deal is struck with Activision and another heavyweight and there’s a new Crash project in the works. I have nothing to do with what’s going on but I’m aware of the person behind it and he’s a talented veteran of many projects in entertainment. When I get a green light on disclosing more info I will. Or you may hear about it in a press release beforehand. Either way, you’ll like what’s up,” Zembillas wrote.
Notice how he did not use the term game. Thus, it might be even a Netflix adaptation, but since nothing is official yet, we’re just guessing for now. It does show that Activision Blizzard seems more than just Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch – some of their older IPs can also provide them money, although not as much as CoD does each year.
