While Rockstar tries to go from five to six, is the team doing a jump back to four?
Amazon tends to leak games/updated versions of games before the developers and publishers confirm their existence. A prime example of such a leak would be the re-release of the 2010 reimagination of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and a bit later, Electronic Arts has confirmed that they will indeed be going to provide this game (again). Now, a certain Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition has popped up on PlayStation 5, but knowing Take-Two, we suspect that the 2008 GTA game might be also coming to Xbox Series.
We can quickly doubt it, though: remember that Grand Theft Auto VI is being developed at Rockstar (we have to say that in all caps: it’s IMPOSSIBLE that Take-Two would not make them work on it), plus they continue to regularly update Grand Theft Auto Online (which is why Grand Theft Auto V got no single-player DLC, and the situation is the same with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online). We also don’t see much of a reason behind re-releasing Grand Theft Auto IV – but this method could generate revenue, and we have previously talked about how Take-Two wants Rockstar to release games more often. This 2021 re-release is said to run on 4K resolution, support the DualSense controller on PlayStation 5, as well as include The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC if it’s not a photoshopped image.
The Xbox Series provide backwards compatibility, but the game cannot be completed on these consoles due to a glitch. But, in the right hands, we could get a higher resolution, a better frame rate, and a decent performance.
Don’t forget that Grand Theft Auto Online’s story started here. Almost two console generations have passed since!
