Dying Light 2 Will Get News Updates Next Year

In the end-year rush, let’s hope that we did not forget about Techland‘s title whose prequel was effectively the real Dead Island 2? (Which itself is allegedly still in development, but who knows at this point…?)

Dying Light 2 hasn’t been discussed that much recently, as Techland has delayed it from 2020, and we have still yet to learn when the zombie parkour title is going to hit the shelves. The developers have discussed the ray tracing, as well as the lighting effects, but that’s about it when it comes to Dying Light 2 in 2020…

Techland has ambitious targets with this game, but at least they provide more updates than Deep Silver’s Dambuster Studios (who are supposedly working on Dead Island 2). Now, a Reddit post supposedly features a Discord screenshot, where one member of the Dying Light 2 development team wrote the following: „We’ve been, er, dying to update you all on how development has been going. We’ll have fresh updates about Dying Light 2 coming in the new year!” So they want to share details in 2021.

We wouldn’t be surprised is the reason behind Dying Light 2’s no-show this year is due to the current-gen consoles – the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One -, holding the development back, as was the case with Cyberpunk 2077 (which ran abhorrently on the 2013 machines when it launched three weeks ago), as the game’s map will be four times the size of the first one that launched in 2015 and has been updated ever since. That’s why we suspect the PlayStation 4 (or PlayStation 4 Slim) and the Xbox One (Xbox One S) might struggle a bit.

Chris Avellone, a veteran writer, was removed from the team in June due to multiple allegations of „sexual harassment and disrespect.” His work was also wiped from Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 by Hardsuit Labs. (And that game also got delayed.)
