The next chapter of the Tales series breaks months of silence – perhaps it’s time to talk about the game.
Back in June, Bandai Namco announced that Tales of Arise will not launch in 2020. Since then, all we heard were tidbits saying that the development is going well and that more details will follow shortly. However, Tales of Arise got a new trailer to hype the Tales of Festival, but the description of the video is important: „Spring is just around the corner, and we’ve been working hard to make it unforgettable! Catch the first new glimpse from Tales of Arise.”
„To the extent that we were quiet in 2020, we are making preparations to share all sorts of new information in 2021. [The] development is going very well, so I hope you can hold out a little longer for new information. We’re preparing all sorts of wonderful news that Tales of fans around the world will get excited about, so please keep us in mind,” Yusuke Tomizawa, the producer of Tales of Arise, said back in December.
Tales of Festival 2021 will run on November 20th and 21st, so it’s quite surprising to see Bandai Namco talk about it this early. More details will be announced this week. But let’s quote a bit from the June delay announcement: „[…] The goal for Tales of Arise is to provide a familiar but innovative gameplay experience to fans of the series while pushing the technical envelope to deliver a high level of graphical quality to impress both long-time players and those who have never played a Tales of game. Development on the title has moved steadily forward in 2020 as we overcame challenges along the way. While COVID-19 has affected some aspects of development, we’ve done our best to adapt to the situation and have implemented remote development capabilities for our team. However, we will need more time to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players, and therefore we decided to delay the launch timing for Tales of Arise. […] It is always darkest before the dawn […],” Tomizawa wrote.
Tales of Arise is supposedly launching this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, we suspect the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series to be at play, and we also wouldn’t rule out binning the PS4 and X1 versions…
