Resident Evil’s next multiplayer game will also not skip the opportunity of being available to play before it properly launches.
Capcom announced that Resident Evil Re:Verse is going to get an open beta from April 8, 6 AM UTC to April 11, 6 AM UTC on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series can also play the game via backwards compatibility. Preloading will be available from April 6, 12 AM UTC. You will have to sign up for a Capcom ID account if you haven’t done so yet, and then, link it to your preferred hardware.
Here’s an overview, taken from Capcom and the game’s webpage: „In celebration of the Resident Evil franchise’s 25th anniversary, which kicks off in March 2021, Capcom announced Resident Evil Village will include access to a free multiplayer experience titled Resident Evil Re:Verse […].This thank you bonus to fans features striking comic-style visuals and sets popular Resident Evil characters against each other in four to six-player deathmatch battles in iconic Resident Evil locations.
Players can choose from a fan-favourite roster, each with their unique skillsets to master. When players are defeated in combat, their character respawns by mutating into a bioweapon to enact revenge on their foes. […] Take part in five-minute Deathmatches, where the player with the most points wins! Use the weapons and items you find to take down even more powerful enemies! […] Pick up multiple Virus Capsules to transform into even stronger bioweapons. Getting revenge with a bioweapon is also a great chance for more points!”, Capcom wrote.
Resident Evil Re:Verse, similarly to its predecessor (Resident Evil: Resistance), is going to be a tie-in sale. When you buy Resident Evil: Village, which will launch on May 7 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, you will get this game, too. It was pretty shoddy when it was in closed beta (see video below). Let’s hope Capcom will eventually get the hint that the fans might want something different…
