Is Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic’s Remake Going To Be An Action RPG?

Allegedly, Aspyr Media is behind the development of the remake of the game that many of us simply call KotOR.

Let’s start at the beginning, as we didn’t discuss this subject because we have already done so in the past. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’s remake is in development at a studio that is „not a household name most people are aware of,” and Aspyr Media fits this bill. Still, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the team, which itself has previously ported the two KotOR games to mobile platforms, will change a few things to not simply bring over BioWare’s legacy.

The remake will take elements from both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: Sith Lords. The problem is that Disney has changed the franchise so much that these two games are no longer part of the canon, and the remake is meant to fix this issue to reintroduce itself to it somewhat. Sounds bold, but the story is still not over.

MrMattyPlays has recently expanded what Schreier said, and he pointed out that the combat system is likely to be changed. The original Knights of the Old Republic used turn-based combat, and the remake is reportedly going to be an action RPG (in other words, think of The Witcher 3 or Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order).

Nothing is official yet, but if we see this many rumours, something might be happening, and it’s not such a big hoax that you can see from Mars. LucasFilm Games (which was revived this year, promptly also handing the Star Wars license to Ubisoft and Massive, the latter is known for The Division and the upcoming Avatar game) might be announcing the game this summer, confirming that Aspyr has some big… asyprations.
