Is IO Interactive Developing An Xbox Exclusive Fantasy Game?

Aside from Agent 47 and Agent 007, IO Interactive might have some ideas about dragons, and perhaps this could be the reason why they opened a studio in Barcelona.

While the Danes focus on the post-launch support of Hitman III and the pre-production phase of Project 007 (the James Bond game), IO Interactive has another project up its sleeve, and Hakan B. Abrak, the company’s CEO hinted at this in a video interview with Gamesindustry.

„We’ve created four IPs from scratch. We always have incubation and R&D going, we always have these crazy ideas and worlds and character that we’re thinking of. Without going into too much detail, we have a third universe that we’re working actively on, which is a bit different and absolutely a love child. It is something our core people, our veteran staff, have been dreaming about for some time, so I’m equally excited with this one as with our other two universes,” Abrak said.

Windows Central added that this third game is an Xbox-exclusive RPG that Microsoft will publish. It’s allegedly a „connected world” game (with online/multiplayer elements) in a fantasy world with dragons. The code name of the project is Dragon, and the site found a reference to it in one of the job listings for a senior user experience (user interface) designer post. Eurogamer joined in with its sources, too, so it doesn’t seem to be a big hoax.

It falls in line with rumours of Microsoft wanting to ramp up third-party developer deals so that they can publish their titles, but still, it’s best to not consider it 100% confirmed. Dragon, or whatever the title will be, is unlikely to launch in the next one to two years, as it’s possibly in pre-production, along with Project 007. Yet, we’d mention something: PlatinumGames, Scalebound…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
