The Finns are not taking much of a break from game development: they are working on multiple games simultaneously, and a few might be set in the Remedy Connected Universe (which started in Control).
Remedy Entertainment has published its financial results, and here, they revealed their plans: „Almost all of our internal Control developers have moved on to work on other Remedy projects, including a new, exciting early-phase project. The Crossfire team is finalizing the single-player operations for Smilegate’s CrossfireX and Crossfire HD. With both of these games launching in 2021, this is a significant year for Crossfire.
Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games is soon moving into full production, and the second, smaller-scale game continues in full production mode. With Vanguard, our free-to-play co-op game project, we have now defined many of the core elements of the game. Development progresses at a good pace, internal playtesting continues, and we are starting the next phase of closed gameplay testing,” Remedy wrote. There’s another, fifth project, which is dubbed as „the next big thing” and will be a new IP, possibly sharing the same universe with Control and Alan Wake.
A few months ago, we might have discussed a rumour that Remedy’s AAA game is in a pre-production phase and that it could be none other than Alan Wake 2 (and since the Finns have the intellectual property, the IP for short for the game, they can allow Tim Sweeney’s company to fund the game, as they don’t want the IP in return for the development funds), so it seems the development speed has picked up significantly since.
It’s not official yet, but it’s confirmed that Remedy Entertainment is working on multiple games at once. However, we wonder if the rumours about working on a Sony Interactive Entertainment-exclusive are true or not.
