Starfield Is More And More Likely To Be An Xbox Exclusive

A few more images of Bethesda Game Studios‘ (BGS) next game have also leaked.

Starfield will be the next big title by Todd Howard, who has to restore his reputation after it got somewhat tarnished in 2018 with Fallout 76, and the lack of success behind that game might have played a role in Microsoft outright acquiring ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. And already when they announced that exclusivity will be decided per each game, we suspected that Starfield will be one of those that will not show up on PlayStation platforms (or possibly any of the 2013 consoles either…)

VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb fairly confidently said on Twitter that Starfield is going to be an Xbox and PC exclusive. He’s not alone with this. We recently mentioned someone else (Rand al Thor if our memory is not foggy) saying the same thing regarding BGS’ title that was announced nearly three years ago, without anything shown officially of it since. Here’s what Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, had to say when Microsoft announced the acquisition of Bethesda:

„This is the next step in building an industry-leading first-party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community. With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players,” Spencer said.

A few images of Starfield have also leaked. Skullzi, a Bethesda insider, talked about the game on Twitter: „I just want to say all the new leaks you will be seeing […] will most likely be from the early 2018 build, same as before.” He also confirmed that the game will follow the factions formula of previous BGS games: „[…] Starfield will have factions, and one is called The Black Fleet, and another is called the Space Nation Alliance.” Finally, he hinted at spacewalking: „While I won’t 100% come out and confirm space walking will be in the game, you do have a gravity meter on your HUD, and ships do have exits and entrances specifically for when there is high gravity or low gravity.”

Starfield will likely be shown at this year’s E3. Going by the images, it might play in first-person, similarly to TES and Fallout, but we’ll see.
