After Concrete Genie, PixelOpus is going to a new console generation and engine, and they are working together on something with Sony Pictures Animation for PlayStation 5.
The studio announced on Twitter that they are looking for two employees to join PixelOpus. Namely, they seek a principle graphics programmer and senior engine programmer. Going by the job listings, we can learn a few things, and we add that Sony Pictures Animation is also involved in the project. You may know them for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Here’s the job description for the principal graphics programmer: „PixelOpus, the creator of the award-winning Concrete Genie, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting an exciting new PlayStation 5 title. We are seeking a Principal Graphics Programmer to contribute to our development process as we tackle exciting innovation and rendering opportunities through a collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. This position specializes in programming that centres around the graphics functionality of the PlayStation 5 and Unreal 5 game engine, but with our small team, responsibilities will be diverse.”
And here’s the job description for the senior engine programmer: „PixelOpus, the creator of the award-winning Concrete Genie, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting an exciting new PlayStation 5 title. We are seeking a Senior Engine Programmer with a generalist skillset to architect, implement, and modify runtime and tools features of PixelOpus’ engine technology and Unreal 5. This position will contribute to our development process as we tackle exciting innovation and creative opportunities through a collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. You will write and optimize code with a heavy focus on usability, maintainability, and real-time performance. If you enjoy working with content creators to bring their artistic and systemic visions of a game to life please apply!”
This Sony Interactive Entertainment studio only worked on two games so far: Entwined (PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3) in 2014 and Concrete Genie (PlayStation 4) in 2019, respectively.
