Is The Kojima-Microsoft Agreement For An xCloud Game Near?

xCloud, Xbox Cloud Gaming, same thing: there’s a chance that Kojima, who has recently been focusing on Death Stranding, is going to make something for Microsoft.

VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb claims that there have been talks between the creator of Metal Gear and the Redmond-based company, even though there’s somewhat of an anomaly that we have kept a close eye on in the past month or so. (It’s Blue Box Game Studios’ „Abandoned,” whose PlayStation 5 app was delayed once again after many delays on the day it was set to arrive: Hasan Kahraman has pushed it from June 25 to August. There are other weird things, but let’s not get into that here…)

Grub claims that xCloud, which is currently shifting over to Xbox Series X hardware, is going to get an exclusive game by Kojima, and he talked about it during the GamesBeat Decides podcast: .„ The deal between Hideo Kojima and Xbox is near. It has gotten to the point where it cannot end other than with the signing of the agreement. They are just sorting out the details. I will have more to say soon.” However, we have to ask if we can believe him. After all, it was Grubb who loudly claimed that Starfield is going to launch in 2021, only for Microsoft to reveal a November 2022 launch day…

We might have also mentioned in the past that Kojima is interested in cloud-based gaming, as well as 5G, whose speed allows more spread for the technology in general. He was looking around at Google, but the company has outright killed all internal Stadia developments, which led Jade Raymond (who previously visited Kojima Productions as a Stadia key figure…), who had moved from Ubisoft through Electronic Arts to Google, to leave to form a PlayStation-backed studio called Haven Studios.

There’s one more thing from Twitter: Microsoft announced that an ex-Stadia member, Kim Swift, has moved to them to be the senior director of Xbox Cloud Gaming. She previously worked on Portal (as a designer and a project lead) and Left 4 Dead (as an artist and designer). Grubb claims this move brought Kojima and Xbox closer to each other.

Something might be happening.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
