Ubisoft Montpellier Works On More Than Just Beyond Good & Evil 2

One of the Ubisoft studios is thinking about the future, even though they have a certain sequel to Beyond Good & Evil, which was announced a long time ago with no release date in sight yet…

On LinkedIn, Ubisoft Montpellier has published a job listing. In it, the studio confirmed that they are working on Beyond Good & Evil 2 (which wasn’t even showcased at E3 2021…) as well as another separate „unannounced game.”

Regarding these two games, Ubisoft is looking for a community developer. In the post, the French company describes that the successful applicant’s goal will be to „manage the community strategy of Beyond Good & Evil 2 and an unannounced game.” And this person would have to do the job in Montpellier in France, which means knowing French and English would also be a requirement to work there.  The job description also mentioned that the role would include „handling PR and events.” Even for Beyond Good & Evil 2?

The interesting thing here is that in May, Ubisoft said that it had no plans to release it „any time soon.” And don’t even get us started on what this unannounced title could be. However, seeing that Ubisoft Montpellier was previously known for the Rayman series, it could be the return of Rayman. And it would make sense: the last Rayman game we saw was Rayman Legends in 2013, so eight years ago.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced in 2017, and since then, it got into development hell. Ubisoft planned to have a playable beta in 2019, which never happened. It is rumoured to require a constant Internet connection, and its concept art previously featured Hindu imagery that has raised concerns from members of the Hindu faith, Michel Ancel, the creator of the game, left the studio in 2020 (he retired).

What on Earth is Ubisoft doing?
