No More Heroes 3 Will Be the End of the Series, Says Creator Suda51

Released some days agi on Nintendo Switch, No More Heroes 3 is the latest summer exclusive for Nintendo’s hybrid console.

Despite the 75% average score on Metacritic, the game is being debated and is far from being unanimously approved by the specialized press. It’s up to the public to make up their own minds and whatever happens, you should know that this will be the very last adventures of Travis Touchdown. Indeed, its creator Suda51 tweeted that this is simply the last episode and that the licence is coming to an end. A rather surprising announcement, especially since No More Heroes 3 has just been released, as such a message could harm its communication. But no matter, for the Japanese game designer, it’s time to say goodbye to this character that accompanied him for 14 years.

Born on Wii in 2007, No More Heroes was Suda51’s first real big project since the excellent Killer7, released two years earlier on GameCube. While the series had two more episodes and a spin-off, it never really worked in the charts. The sales of the game, and of the series, remain a private matter, but one thing is certain, Suda51 has never created games for the general public. But no matter, Suda51 had already planned to conclude the saga with this third episode (canon, the 4th if we count the spin-off), probably to devote himself to a new licence. We hope in any case that he will be able to keep his crazy and overflowing imagination. RIP Travis Touchdown.
