Gran Turismo will celebrate its 25th birthday next year, so we were somewhat expecting a 25th Anniversary Edition.
You might mention here that Gran Turismo launched on the PS1 in May 1998 in the West. You have a point, but Polys Entertainment (the studio was called as such back then) released the game in Japan on December 23, 1997, explaining why the celebrations occur in 2022. Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital announced via the PlayStation Blog what the new racing game would offer in other versions.
The Launch Edition will be available on the PlayStation Store and via the PlayStation Direct as well (in case you want to skip going to a retail store), and it will give you the following bonuses: 100K in-game credits and three cars (Toyota Castrol TOM’S Supra, Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Concept (Stealth), Porsche 917K Living Legend).
The 25th Anniversary Edition will also be available from retail or the PlayStation Store. Including the three cars from the Launch Edition, you will get a steelbook case, the PlayStation 5 game disc with a PlayStation 4 voucher, a Toyota GR Yaris with country-specific livery, thirty manufacturer/partner Avatars, “The Music of Gran Turismo” official soundtrack, and 1.1 million in-game credits. “Again, this is a limited-edition physical release, so be sure to pre-order your 25th Anniversary Edition while supplies last,” the PS Blog reads.
It explains why there’s also the 25th Anniversary Digital Deluxe Edition via the PlayStation Store. It contains everything the physical version has, without the steelbook case. You will get dual PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 entitlement, and the in-game credit bonus is increased to 1.6 million. The pre-order ends on March 4. What about the PlayStation 4 > PlayStation 5 upgrade path? “Lastly, for those looking to upgrade their PlayStation 4 Standard Edition of Gran Turismo 7 to the Gran Turismo 7 PlayStation 5 Digital Standard Edition, there will be a $10 digital upgrade option at the time of release,” the PS Blog claims.
Gran Turismo 7 will launch on March 4 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
