The arrival of PlayStation exclusive God of War on PC has created a massive dust-up in Valve’s store. Sony’s strategy seems to be working.
This week’s news: God of War is finally coming to PC. The previously PlayStation-exclusive title has now been given a release date on Steam and the Epic Games Store, where it will be released early next year with multiple upgrades. With over 20 million copies already sold on PS4, it looks like that number will rise even further with PC sales.
In its first few hours, Santa Monica’s hit game has already topped the Steam sales charts. Specifically, pre-orders for God of War led all sales on Valve‘s store, and at the time of writing, it has yet to fall out of the top 3, despite only being released on the platform for a few hours.

This version of the Norse adventure game starring Kratos and Atreus will feature 4K resolution support and an unlocked frame rate, with high-quality graphics. Nvidia DLSS and Reflex support have also been announced, and the ability to play on ultra-wide 21:9 screens. Of course, Dualshock 4 and DualSense controllers will also be available, but the game will also allow for customisable keyboard and mouse controls.
The arrival of God of War on Steam and the Epic Games Store is another example of Sony‘s new strategy, which has been keen to bring its games to PC for some time. While the original idea was that exclusive games would never come to PS5 and PC simultaneously, it’s an exciting future ahead.
