Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition: Higher System Requirements Than Red Dead Redemption 2!

The three Grand Theft Auto titles initially designed and released for PlayStation 2 have relatively hefty system requirements.

We’ve already written about the first trailer for the Unreal Engine 4 edition of the three games here, so let’s get into more details. The system requirements have been leaked before, and we won’t repeat them, but we’ll highlight something from Rockstar’s site: the processor pair here might look strange on Intel’s side. The Intel minimum is the Intel Core i5-6600K, while the recommended is the Intel Core i7-2700K. Of course, the video card on the recommended side is more muscular. On the AMD side, there is no such jump in time.

Why this vast discrepancy compared to the machine requirements of the original releases? Well, it makes sense that three of Rockstar’s games have been repackaged for a new engine, and for PCs, there will be Nvidia’s DLSS technology. Machine learning upscaling on sufficiently beefy video cards could give the revamped version of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas some serious visuals. In return, you’ll need an even more powerful machine than Red Dead Redemption 2 (and that wasn’t an ugly duckling, either…).

Subscribers to console services will also be happy. Those with an Xbox Game Pass subscription will access Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition from the day the trilogy launches. So you can only get one of the three games, though. Take-Two also has a deal with Sony. Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition will be added to the PlayStation Now streaming service with the December update on December 7.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be released digitally on November 11 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (exclusively at Rockstar Games Launcher…), PlayStation, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The retail release will come on December 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, with iOS/Android versions coming in the first half of 2022. The price is steep: 60 USD/EUR…
