But now, the team behind Hellblade have detailed in a short video that they’ve gone so far as to build the staircase in their studio that will be found in the apartment where the game is set.
This was necessary because the team wanted to use motion capture to recreate the most lifelike and realistic movement on the stairs, the up-and-down walking, and the physics of the stairs. You can find the video in the embedded Twitter post at the end of this article.
In a behind-the-scenes video from Project Mara, Ninja Theory creates “the most realistic video game staircase ever” – and they even recreated the staircase at mo-cap studios.
The sequel to Hellbade is a similarly large-scale project. Over the summer, it was revealed that the Nina Theory team had gone to Iceland to gather material to recreate the world and atmosphere of Norse mythology as authentically as possible in the game. In August, Hellblade received its free Xbox Series X/S port. True, Hellblade became a game whose graphics couldn’t be improved much, as the visuals of the base game are already stunning.
