343 Industries promises “the biggest, most wide-open and adventure-filled Halo Infinite experience yet.”
“The Banished have defeated UNSC forces and taken control of the mysterious Zeta Halo, threatening the survival of humankind. When all hope is lost, and humanity’s fate hangs in the balance, the Master Chief returns to confront the most ruthless foe he’s ever faced. Here’s a fresh look at the Halo Infinite campaign that introduces players to true Spartan freedom in the biggest, most wide-open and adventure-filled Halo experience yet,” Microsoft and 343 Industries wrote on the Xbox website. You can see it in the first video below.
However, we intentionally pointed out that it’s the first video. There’s another one under it. It features a comparison between the 2020 and the 2021 Halo Infinite footage created by ElAnalistaDeBits. 343 Industries has effectively remastered the visuals by making the game much more visually appealing, more detailed, and much less flat.
Previously, Microsoft planned to launch Halo Infinite and the Xbox Series together, but the game was pushed back (CD Projekt RED should have done with Cyberpunk 2077). Here’s 343 Industries’ explanation from when the game got delayed after it got backlash for the 2020 visuals: “We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision. The decision to move our release results from multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work from our team at 343 Industries, who have remained committed to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday.
We know this won’t be very pleasant to many of you, and we all share that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years have been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday. The extra time will let us finish the critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect,” the studio wrote.
Halo Infinite will launch on December 8 on Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store).
